Diversity Your eCommerce Markets

Are you selling on eBay, Amazon, Etsy, Bonanzle and/or do you have an eCommerce site (stand alone Web store)? 2011 is the year to tighten up your business plans and move into multiple markets.

Diversity is in the air for 2011 and building strong, dependable brand recognition will build loyal customers who keep coming back to buy from you!!

The first sale to a customer is the most expensive one for your business. Each time a customer returns and buys from you the profits increase. Your goal is to find ways to attract customers and keep them coming back.

Building a brand on the Internet is cruical to building a strong merchandise sales base. What does building a brand mean? It means recognition by your customer and potential customers and the desire to purchase your merchandise over the competition.

Build a brand for your business personality and keep customers returning for more sales

Five levels of brand recognition:

  1. Brand rejection: The customer does not wish to do business with you even though they are aware of your brand. Think of the car sales person who pressures for a sale.
  2. Brand non-recognition: The customer is not familiar with your brand
  3. Brand recognition; The customer recognizes your brand when they see or hear of it
  4. Brand preference: The customer prefers your brand over the competition
  5. Brand loyalty: The customer thinks of your brand first when they determine to buy the product/s you sell

The first step to diversity on the Internet is to think in terms of building a brand. Think about what makes you buy/shop at a certain store, or what keeps you coming back to a product you like.

You can build a strong, recognizable brand on the Internet no matter if you are a small or large seller.

The key to success is to understand brand building to work to build brand loyalty:

An example of simple branding on eBay is a user named granny74, they have a 94% sell through rate on 1600 completed listings in 90 days. This is an example of an eBay seller who has developed a niche and customer loyalty over the years. (courtesy of Terapeak research tool).
